The operation of heating centers is becoming increasingly complex. Modern heating centers are evolving into active hubs for sector coupling by integrating multiple energy generation systems. These include combined heat and power (CHP) plants with storage, solar thermal energy, power-to-heat systems, and community energy solutions involving heat pumps, photovoltaic (PV) panels, and battery storage. This complex system design allows for greater operational flexibility and optimized energy use. Due to its SaaS-character we offer our full service for assets starting at a size of 200 kWel. 

Whatflex.ENERGY does

flex.ENERGY is a service designed for asset owners who currently operate their heating plants in a traditional "heat-led" manner, often overlooking the benefits of the power market while assuming its inherent risks. Withflex.ENERGY, the entire process of flexibilization and monetization of assetsis fully automated.

The major steps include:

1) Initial modeling: Acomprehensive model of the energy center is created, factoring in all technical and economic constraints.

2) Before each auction:

- Updatethe model with dynamic variables such as natural gas spot prices, current runtime hours, auction limits, ... 
- Forecast local heat and power demands.
- Run the optimization model to generate asset-based schedules.
- Send the import/export schedules to the corresponding trader/portfolio.

3) ContinuousOptimization:

- Detect machine outages or imbalances and report them to the trader or automatically resolve them through the PowerBot.
- Optimize the (remaining) asset’s flexibility in real time on the intraday market via PowerBot.
- Fulfil all Redispatch 2.0 obligations, including EIV and BTR.
